activism

"Young people are not in university to change the world. They are there to learn. There is nothing wrong with developing a heated response to the injustices of our day but it is only in later, more measured moments that these injustices can be practically addressed. More important than activism is an investment in enduring books, enduring issues, enduring truth. That will equip today's rebels for tomorrow's controversies."

guess where i am

i'm in the library. my first time to use the computer services setion. i'm just waiting for my next class which starts in less than thirty minutes. that's another an hour and a half in hell.

i have kwento.

last july 8, i went to españa to see a kjwan gig. had to stay at a friend's girlfriend's apartment in upd. anyway, the gig was definitely worth the los banos-diliman trip.

so yeah, i saw marc abaya in person but i never got to talk to him. what was really funny was that there was this group of high school boys who adored him so much you'd think they were gay. maybe they were. haha... one of them introduced himself as marc agaya.

i'm no longer marc and jun crazy, by the way. i've switched to boogie romero. i swear that man is the hottest man alive. i love how he opens his mouth when he sings! he is just so hot.

the next day, i met with my photoS friends and orgmates for a manila photos activity. the pictures are supposed to be featured on the ncca exhibit. anyway, i didn't take pictures. i don't know. i didn't have the wisho for it. i can't put manila in a frame. i knew there'd be no story, there'd be nothing new. so i decided not to waste films na lang.

how funny

There seems to be nothing else to talk about but the current political crisis. I bet you're sick of it. Don't worry, you're not alone. Two weeks ago, I was still hoping that I'd wake up to see good news on the headlines. Now, I'm losing that hope and I'm losing it fast.

I know you probably won't agree with me but I think GMA should stay. There's no one to replace her. Take her out of Malacañang and you're taking the country out of the map also.

Jinggoy Estrada (I think I'm going to hurl) suggested that after GMA's resignation/impeachment or another people power movement, a government headed by his father, Joseph Estrada should be put in place. You have a prisoner for your president?! Nice profile.

My classmates in PSY 101 cheered for Panfilo Lacson. Have any idea where he is?

I'm sure every presidential candidate in 2004 elections is guilty of electoral fraud. GMA made the big mistake of getting caught.

What I really want to know now is who the heck tapped that conversation? And what the heck was his/her agenda? (I don't see why people just can't look at it that way.)

Then there's the church saying that GMA's sorry is not enough. I turned my back on the church a few years ago and I don't see my myself repenting.  Of all the people/institutions/organizations, it has to be the church to say that sorry isn't enough. Shouldn't they teach us forgiveness? (As for me, there's is nothing to forgive because I was never angry to begin with.)

Again, there is no one to replace her. It's the economy I keep thinking about.

Conrado de Quiros said that we should put justice before the economy but I don't think that's enough. We have the next generation to think about and justice alone is not going to put food on every family's table.

I also think that the Senate jueteng inquiry and the House investigations should both stop. We're just giving those politicians a venue to show off. (Wait! Not all of them have anything to show off. Think Jinggoy... feeling!)

Think about this...

1 mineral water = Php 20

20 x 60(representatives present in the investigations) = 1200

1200 x 3 (for the bottles I normally see in front of each representative) = 3600

So, it's costing us Php 36,000 for every single day those representatives spend in the Philippine Congress. And that's just for water.
